FireBall Malware: 250 Million PC’s Infected

Now a days, it looks like that a cloud of malware attack is in attack mood to leave the digital world like a debris. Firstly on May 12, 2017 wannacry virus attack took place and infected more than 3,00,000 computers across more than 150 countries. While companies were trying to combat this deadly virus, a newly installed Chinese malware is targeting browsers and thus turning them into zoombies. This malware has affected around 250 million computers around the world.

A data security firm who first discovered this virus said that it was designed to hack browser and steal all traffic and boost ad network for them. When this software gets installed, it redirects a users web browser to website that look similar to giant search engine Google or Yahoo homepage. That fake page later steal user private information using tracking pixel.

How to Find if your system is infected:

To check, open your web browser and check whether the homepage you are seeing is set by you or check the installed software extensions? If you get the answer as NO, then there are chances that you are infected with this adware.

How to Remove:

Windows: In Windows, user can uninstall the application to remove the adware from Program and Features list in Control Panel.

Mac OS: User can use Finder to locate the application. Then drag the suspecious file to trash and finally empty the trash.

Top 6 Differences between IPV4 and IPV6

Internet technology has revolutionized the world and when someone talks about it, there arise a question. What IP address is your service provider using? Is it IPV4 or IPV6 and the need to shift to IPV6.

Back Story of IPv4 and IPv6:

IPv4 was initially deployed with ARPANET in 1983. It has number of address with a limit of around 4.3 billion addresses. With the more use of mobiles and smartphones, people now require double the amount of addresses that were needed till year 2000 and this need of more IP addresses result in existance of IPv6. While IP address were limited to being four 1 byte number in IPv4, IPv6 used 128 bit for IP address, thus making them go from (192.168.1.1) to (fe80:d4a8:6435:d2d8:d9f3b11).

Difference:
IPv4 used Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to configure IP address every time it connect to internet. Whereas IPv6 support a revised DHCPv6 protocol that support stateful auto-configuration of nodes.

IPv4:

1. 576 byte packet size is required with optional fragmentation.
2. Two Packet fragmentation are: Router and sending hosts.
3. Initially IPv4 was designed for isolated military network and not with intention of security.
4. IPv4 header has 20 bytes and many fields .
5. ISP have both connectivity IPv4 and IPv6.

IPv6:

1. 1280 byte packet size was required with fragmentation.
2. Fragmentation was sending hosts only in this protocol.
3. This IPv6 protocol was designed with strong security like encryption and authentication.
4. IPv6 header has 40 bytes with limit to 8 fields.
5. Many ISP don’t have IPv6 connectivity.
